Belated Hair Color Post ~Tutorial~

I colored my hair mid August and now am going to post up the photos I took from then x)
Sorry for it being so belated ^^''

I always had either dark brown or dark red/purple colors in my hair - never light or ashy - and I really wanted a change. Tbh I never dyed my hair light because my parents never approved of me coloring my hair any color that was not dark brown haha

But this time I just did it anyways :P However, I did darken it again... so much for trying to be a rebel (lol)

This was the result:
An older photo but it's quite accurate to my current color.
I have been using Palty hair dye for the past 4 years now and I must say I can't ever go back to the local drugstore brands that isn't an Asian hair coloring product!
2 Creamy Caramel boxes + 1 Golden Brown Bleach box
I find that palty and prettia just work so well with Asian hair because the color stays and evens out your hair color, not to mention that the color continues to get lighter even after dying your hair ;)

So here is the process of how I did my hair:

1. clipped up the to-be-bleached streaks/highlights/peekaboo spots
I also had highlights in my bangs as well, which you will see at the bottom of this post.
What the bleach box contains(minus the black bowl and brush):
2. pour bottle 2 into container
3. mix, it will have a strong bleach smell
4. add tube contents and mix
5. apply to hair that was previously isolated for bleaching
(use aluminum foil so the bleach does not touch any other areas)
The two photos to the right are the bleach results.
I left it in for approx 30min, eyeballing how light I wanted it to be.

Next I colored my as usual with the two caramel brown boxes. I left that color in for almost an hour.

Overall result:
BEFORE
AFTER
In different lighting, showing the bleached areas:
left: peekaboo, right: highlights
So depending on the lighting, it could have a reddish or orange tone to it.

After I did this my parents freaked out because in a couple days my hair actually got lighter and turned into this:
from puffy 3 tones review
So like a good girl I dyed it darker using a random drugstore box in dark brown T^T (I think it was from L'oreal)
But then it faded again and you can see how it looks in my previous posts!

Now my hair has less of a red tinge to it and at times looks ashy. I like the random areas of blonde in it too! Thanks to Jenny for helping me do my hair! Couldn't have done it without cha girrrrl ;)

The trouble now though is that my roots are growing out and I will have to figure out how to touch them up without having to re-do this entire process >>

So yup, it's harder to show how I bleached the areas and created highlights with a pictorial but I hoped this helped somewhat haha

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

  4. i love the light colour! makes me want to give palty hair dye another try XD especially the bleach! :D I think your hair looks great both ways, it's good to have highlights and low lights in your hair, makes it look less boring and mono-tone :D

  7. wow thanks for this post! i've always wanted to try palty but i've never got the chance to. Does it dry our the roots of your hair and give split ends?

  13. coloring hair.. it's always tempting :P mwahahaha

  14. Oh so you've tried palty before too! It was my first time using the bleach, it's basically the same, not difficult at all :) And yeah, I liked the different tones in my hair ^^

  15. I always wanted it to be lighter too so I finally did it! My hair actually wasn't too damaged, I was surprised because it went through 2 dying sessions in one day! O.o

  16. I've said it before but I'm very palty biased x) I don't know if it's just me but I find that palty doesn't do as much damage to my hair as other brands do. My hair is still healthy despite it's length and what it's been through. But I do condition like crazy so maybe that's why ^^;;

    ReplyDelete
  17. My hair is quite strong (i think) and I do condition my hair well so it is still healthy even though it's long and colored. But of course, anything done to your hair will make it at least a bit more dry compared to 100% natural hair.

  18. Haha! I colored my hair at the end of August and knew it would be light for the fall but oh wells~ I'll stand out >:D Wahahahahaaa But it isn't too light so yeah, it could be fall-y as well X)

  19. It looks pretty! I used a revlon box from the drugstore and wanted to dye my hair brown, but I bought ultra blonde? and so it looks caramel now! so I guess my hair color is the same as yours now and that makes me happier! haha It suits you well even though it's not the color you wanted but you're working that hair color great! ♥

  20. Although I don't really like hair dyeing, this colour fits you perfectly!

  21. Okay fine, I like this colour (too bad you had to dye it darker) HOWEVER I TOTALLY AM STILL IN LOVE WITH DARKER HAIR CHRISTINA!! As for the touch up.. I guess if you just dye the top layer you can hide your roots from the other parts... ah... to have hair stylist friends. haha

    ReplyDelete
  27. I thought the green and the bright hair went really well together too! Too bad my hair is darker now .___. it'll fade some more tho~ So I guess it's fine :P
